NHRA is excited to share mentorship opportunities in the Northland through the College Mentorship Program!
What is the College Mentorship Program? It’s an amazing program through the NHRA that connects college students pursing a degree in Human Resource (HR) with HR professionals in the community. How cool is that?! This year, we are taking a virtual route! Conversational topics have been laid out to help guide each month as pairs meet over zoom! With a remote experience, you can meet with your mentee from anywhere, making it convenient for both of you.
What is the purpose? Provide students with a real life HR experience and connections out of the classroom, as well as a networking experience! Each student is matched with a mentor based on HR areas of interest. As many of us know being a mentor also helps us see our own gifts, learn new things, and possibly get some extra work done! With the pandemic and this new reality that we are in, some may have lost opportunities of internships and networking. With this program, this will help connect others again!
What is the expectation: Mentors are asked to spend 1-2 hours a month between December– the beginning of May with the mentee assigned to them. With Covid cases rising, we are moving to a remote experience, unless otherwise decided by the pair. As a result, we have set up a monthly roadmap to help guide the conversations and help everyone get the most out of this experience. Pairs will be sent monthly questions to go over during their check ins. Topics covered include, but is not limited to:
- Development Plans
- Skill Building
- Daily HR Duties
- The Evolving World of HR
- Goal Setting
