Opioids in the Workplace: Understanding, Responding, and Preventing - Complimentary Sponsored Event

  • 25 Jun 2018
  • 11:15 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Holiday Inn Downtown Duluth

The Duluth Police Department recorded 144 opioid overdoses in St. Louis County in 2017, with the majority in Duluth. Through the first week of March 2018, six in the county have already died among 19 confirmed opioid overdoses. This crisis impacts the Northland's workforce, their family members, and our community as a whole.

NHRA has been selected to partner with Allied Against Opioid Abuse (AAOA). AAOA is comprised of healthcare, business and community stakeholders dedicated to combating prescription opioid abuse and misuse. The coalition forges national, state and local partnerships to provide education and awareness, engage local communities and support solutions to reduce prescription opioid abuse and misuse.

To that end, NHRA is leading efforts to communicate with business professionals and community members in our region. Lieutenant Jeff Kazel, Commander of the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, will present timely information and moderate a panel of subject matter experts from AAOA and our community. Kazel has served in many capacities in the department to include: Patrol Officer, Community Officer, Narcotics Investigator, Federal Task Force Officer, Tactical Response Team Member, Administrative Sergeant, Community Sergeant, Night Shift Commander, Administrative Lieutenant and the Supervisor of the Duluth Police Honor Guard.

Panel presentations and discussion will be followed by a Q & A session.

Free resources for employers will also be available.

Registration will start at 11:15 - those who RSVP will receive complimentary lunch. Space is limited, please register here:
